In the return leg against Atletico-PR, Corinthians won on Wednesday in front of their home crowd by the score of 2-0, reported the local media on Thursday. The team lost the first leg by the score of 3-2 and needed the victory in order to advance to the quarter finals of the Brazilian Cup. With the aggregate score of 4-3, Corinthians, led by Ronaldo, advance, leaving Atletico-PR out of the next round.
Ronaldo was the highlight of the night, scoring both of Corinthians' goals. The first came in the 55th minute. Just outside of the penalty box, the forward quickly spun around to face the goal and fired a bullet into the right side of the net, out of reach of the visiting team's goalie.
The star's second goal came in the 68th minute. The player was awarded a penalty kick after having suffered a hard foul inside of the penalty box. Taking the kick himself, the player took a stutter-step, watching the goalie fall to the left side of the goal and then easily gliding the ball into the right corner.
In his last thirteen games, Ronaldo has not disappointed his fans, scoring ten goals. It was his first goal during this year's Brazilian Cup. The team now awaits the winner of Fluminense and Goias to see who will be their opponent in the quarter finals.
