Real Madrid's Italian central defender Fabio Cannavaro said on Thursday that he will bide his time to see if the club would offer him a new contract. The 35-year-old is in the final year of his three-year deal with the Spanish club. A player in his position would normally have had news from the club if the club wanted to extend his deal.
However, Cannavaro, who has won the Primera Liga title in each of his seasons with Real Madrid, said he has heard nothing from his current employers.
"Nobody has called me, but whoever wants to do so, knows how they can get into contact with me," he said in the digital edition of sports paper Marca.
The Italian added that if the club didn't get in contact with him, he would have no problem ending his career elsewhere.
"I have a contract with Real Madrid until the end of June. They are not the only club in the world," he said.
