An elimination diet is a method of identifying foods that an individual cannot consume without adverse effects. Adverse effects may be due to food allergy, food intolerance, other physiological mechanisms (such as metabolic or toxins), or a combination of these.

食物排除疗法是确定一个人无法食用哪些会引发副作用的食物的一种办法。这种副作用也许是因为食物过敏、食物不耐受、其他的生理机制(如新陈代谢或毒素)、或者以上因素综合作用等问题。

Elimination diets typically involve entirely removing a suspected food from the diet for a period of time from two weeks to two months, and waiting to determine whether symptoms resolve during that time period.
