gre考试内容中有一项是句子填空，这项考试是将gre单词的理解和整个阅读理解能力结合到一起考察的，对考生来说相当于是做短阅读。
gre填空的正确率是建立在你对长句的把握和单词的认识上的。所以如果对单词非常不熟悉，填空是做不对的。但是和类比反义词不同的是，填空的单词比较基础，通常属于中级难度的单词。所以不需要等到红宝背得很熟练才开始做。
另外，复习gre填空的时候对句子结构的分析，对于阅读是很有好处的。所以建议在红宝书的单词能够掌握到30%到50%的时候就可以做填空联系。掌握度的标准是，你看到单词能够马上回想出，它的第一个意思就可以了。
这里没有说只需要背单词的第一个意思。只是说刚开始的时候，只要这样要求就可以了。
gre考试填空的复习相比其他项目来说还是比较简单的，如果你的阅读能力没有问题的话，做起这种题目十分轻松的。如果平时阅读理解不是特别好的同学可以借着这个机会先从句子联系开始，在这个过程中总结阅读技巧，然后再加深难度，复习阅读。
