听力模块中选择题数量将增加40%
2013年，雅思考试听力模块中的选择题数量将会增加40%，其余题型的数量将会有所减少，但填空题中单词拼写的难度将会加大。
听力模块中选择题数量的增加，使得整个模块的难度下降，这对中国学生而言是个好消息，对中国学生而言，雅思考试要取得高分，听力与阅读是两大拉分模块，但听力模块中的地图标注、分类、配对等题型又会让学生失去很多分数。除听力外，阅读模块也将有所调整，具体内容将根据雅思考试真题集《剑桥雅思9》中的文章动向而定。
学生自行复习至少要一年时间
学生自行准备雅思考试，至少需要提前一年时间准备。英语能力的提高，需要长时间的积累，以听力为例，想要在考试中提高1分，需要积累100~150个小时的听力训练。在平时听力的训练中，要有意识地注意对话或者文章中出现的但是然而等单词，通常这些单词后面的内容往往会是关键点，有些甚至是题目的答案。
