3月12日是我们中国的植树节，随着环保意识的增强，我们开始意识到树木、植物对于生态的重要性。今天我们就来学学有关植物的英语词汇！
植物可分为grass草本植物和tree乔木两大类。一般来说，枝干持续生长一年以上的可归为tree，反之就是grass。
植物的root根埋在土里是为了吸收水分和营养。植物的茎用英语说是stem。但是，一般来说，stalk是指草或花的茎，而trunk则多用于指树木的干。顺着干向上可以看到branch树枝，大的树枝叫做bough粗枝，小的叫做twig细枝。树枝上还长着leaf叶子，到了收获的季节，树枝上还挂满了fruit果实。果实的中心有一个坚硬的core核，里面装有seed种子。
春天一到，所有的植物都开始bud发芽，一段时间后慢慢开出flower花朵。像郁金香这样的观赏花ornamental flower就被归为bloom开花植物。Fruit tree果树上开的花叫做blossom。
如果收到朋友送来的bunch of flowers花束，一定要在petal花瓣wither凋谢之前，把它们插到flower vase花瓶里，这样做才能使花朵开得持久一点。如果你不忍心看到花朵凋谢，那就去买一束artificial flowers人造花吧，放在家里好久都不会坏。
一般树木统称为tree，而个头矮小的则叫做shrub灌木或者bush。wood是指广泛用于建朱方面的木材。
盛夏，大部分的树木都verdant郁郁葱葱，可是到了秋天，部分树木的叶子会掉光，这类树木就叫做deciduous tree落叶树；另一部分树木四季常青，这类树木就叫做evergreen tree常绿树。
