凯特莱特(Kate Light)，美国当代女诗人，纽约城市歌剧院小提琴手，也投身于现代舞和戏剧。1997年以诗集《堕落身体的律法》获得尼古拉斯诺依里奇诗歌奖。
现代人的爱情是短暂而危险的，仿佛是一场场拳击赛，来得突然，去得也快。虽然曾经有过短暂的幸福之光进入黯淡的地方，他们也可以为爱痴狂，然而却否认燃烧。末尾一句，更是撕破了披在现代人头上的温情脉脉的面纱：他们就连说一声爱都困难。莱特写的现代诗，体现在从内容和形式两个层面上的继承与突破。然而，这种琉璜与大气的会合似的爱情，最终受到威胁的还是内心和灵魂。也许这个写诗的靓丽女子，会在音乐、舞蹈和戏剧上寻求舒乐与安宁，会让心浮气燥的都市生活变得宁静，并在宁静中收获真正属于自己的爱情。
If he sees her, love will flare briefly;
a struck match, held
in his fingers, that he will let
burn till the threshold of flesh is threatened.
