奥斯卡奖并不是从第一届开始就设立最佳男女配角奖的，最佳男女配角奖是从1936年（第九届奥斯卡奖）才开始设立的。相比于最佳女主角的风光无限，最佳女配角则相对暗淡了许多，所以早期的很多容貌与演技俱佳的女配角现在已不为人知，关于她们的资料也很少。这里盘点的奥斯卡历史上最佳女配角中的美女以上世纪90年代后获奖的女星为主。
爱娃·玛丽·森特 Eva Marie Saint
生于新泽西州纽瓦克，博林格林州立大学毕业。曾在纽约演员研修所学习表演，演出过广播和电视剧。1953年在百老汇演出舞台剧《丰裕的旅行》，荣获纽约戏剧评论奖。次年首登银幕，以《码头风云》一炮成功，荣获第27届奥斯卡最佳女配角金像奖。其它主要影片有《浪子回头》、《战国佳人》、《谍影疑云》、《出 埃及记》、《苏联潜艇大闹美国》、《飞车英雄传》、《惹祸上身》、《偷欢现形记》等。
爱娃·玛丽·森特不是那种典型的西方美女，她的美有些东方式，苍白纤薄，细致轻柔。原本是舞台剧演员的她初登银幕就一炮成名，凭借《码头风云》夺得奥斯卡最佳女配角奖。
