斯皮尔伯格继《拯救大兵瑞恩》和《兄弟连》后，再一次把目光投向战场。由他监制的美剧《兄弟连》姐妹篇《太平洋》将于3月14日周日晚正式开播。另一方面，梦工厂还准备将一战小说《战马》搬上大银幕。电影《战马》改编自畅销作家迈克尔·莫珀格的小说。梦工厂已经买下了该小说的版权。目前，梦工场并没有证实斯皮尔伯格是否会亲自执导该片。但他们将尽快启动《战马》的拍摄工作。
斯皮尔伯格和汤姆·汉克斯仍然是《太平洋》的制作人。与《兄弟连》讲述二战美军在欧洲战场的故事不同，《太平洋》主要讲述3个海军陆战队士兵在太平洋战场的遭遇。《太平洋》一共只有10集，但成本却高达2亿美元，平均一集1000万美元，是有史以来最贵的电视剧。
