看来道恩·强森（Dwayne Johnson）要继续他的“救援任务”了。灾难片《末日崩塌》（San Andreas）可能算不上非常成功（烂番茄网上只有50%的评分），但是其全球4.73亿的票房成绩足以让制片方为其续集亮绿灯。
巨石强森、导演布拉德·佩顿（Bray Peyton）和制片比尤·弗林（Beau Flynn）都已确认回归。此外，据报道卡拉·古奇诺（Carla Gugino）、亚历珊德拉·达达里奥（Alexandra Daddario）和保罗·吉亚玛提（Paul Giamatti）等也会相继回归。
本片将有华纳属下有新线公司（New Line）出品，尼尔·怀德纳（Neil Widener）和加文·詹姆斯（Gavin James）负责编剧。
