Do computers have much impact on your life?
Yes. It allows you to organize paperwork and finances as well as have entertainment value. It changes the way of how people get information and the way of communication.
What computer skill would you like to learn?
Photoshop is a fantastic program which can make photos beautiful with cool effect. But I am a rookie so I want to learn Photoshop skills.
Do you use computers very much?
Yes. I cant live without computers since I basically need it for information, school, and entertainment.
What was your impression when you used a computer the first time?
When I first used a computer, it was more than 12 years ago. I was learning computer in class, and computer was still in black and white back then. But when I typed some orders with the keyboard, the screen would display certain graphs or figures accordingly, which I felt really amazing. I totally didnt understand how it worked, but I knew it was some kind of magic.
How did you learn to use a computer?
At the beginning, I learnt it in school. But back then, the functions of computers were still very limited, and there were not many things we could do with it. We simply followed the instructions from our teachers and learnt about some basic coding. As the technology gets more and more advanced, computers became quite powerful and more common in peoples live. After I had a computer in my home, I started to use it more frequently, and a lot more relevant skills and techniques have been soon picked up since then.
Have computers changed your life in any way?
Looking around my class right now, students are all focus on laptops, writing notes, looking at power points and surfing the web. It is different from how we study 10 years ago.
Do you think computers are useful in everyday life?
Computers aid us in most of the things we do. Big companies depend largely on computers. Groceries have those cash registers that made buying easier. Students depend on computers for entertainment and projects. Many more people use computers for different purposes and it would be a great shock for mankind if it suddenly disappeared.
Do you think computers have changed our lives for the better?
It is a yes and no question. Everything is at your finger tips. We use computers for calculation, recording information and chatting with friends. They make our jobs easier and do things faster. However, people dont talk to each other anymore the only thing they do is suffer the internet.
Do you think a computer can give you better access to knowledge?
For study, I use computer to do some assignments, including searching for some information, using online dictionaries and browse the most updated news in China and around the world.
Do you think there are any disadvantages to using computers?
Yes, on internet, any violence, untrue news report, pornography is accessible to everybody. And it will make your muscle sour if you use computer in offices or at home too long time.
Computers are now used a lot in education. What do you think of this? What do you think are the advantages of this?
There is no doubt that computer benefit education in many ways. For example, with the help of computers, teaching methods have become more diverse as there are many kinds of multi-media assistance and students are more likely to be interested in what is being taught. But on the other hand, if students or teachers reply too much on the computer aid, they may neglect the content or the essence of teaching.
Do you think computers are good or bad for children?
Our society is media-saturated. Computer is an excellent tool for children to learn new things and get in touch with the latest. But computer is only a tool, and it can be both good and bad, so proper instruction and supervision is a must for parents.
What do you do when your computer has problems?
I am a rookie in computer problems so I will take it to a professional directly.
Do you think computers are perfect now or do they still need to be improved?
Although I think it is perfect already I believe computer will always be developed and technology never stops advancing. I think we will make them faster and maybe add some 3D images. Also, make them smaller but with a bigger screen.
How do you think parents could minimize the negative effects of computers on their children?
Parents supervision is a must. They can go into the security set up and raise the security level. Also, parents can set a password that only they know and the children cant get on unless parents log in for them. Moreover, parents can set up a parental control review where they can check all the websites that children log on to.
