2013年职称英语考试综合类词汇解析-冠词

　　冠词是一种虚词，本身不能独立使用，只能附着在一个名词上帮助说明这名词的含义。英语中的冠词有两个，一是定冠词the ;另一是不定冠词，有两个形式，a或an【a用在以辅音开头的词前，an用在以元音开头的词前】。

　　1.不定冠词的基本用法

　　用来表示一这个数量，意思和one差不多：

　　The plan will be ready in a week or two. 计划一两周内就可定好。

　　也可用来表示某一个：

　　Even a child can answer this question. 就是小孩子也能回答这个问题。

　　2.定冠词的基本用法

　　表示某个或某些特定的人或物：

　　Give me the book . 把那本书给我。

　　Where are the other comrades? 其他同志在哪里?

　　第二次提到某东西时：

　　There is a book on the desk and the book is mine. 桌子上有一本书，那本书是我的。

　　表示世界上独一无二的东西：

　　the sun , the moon , the globe , the world , the sky , the universe .

　　和一个形容词连用，代表一类人或东西：

　　the rich，the poor，the deaf，the blind，the dead，the oppressed，the unemployed等。

　　专有名词

　　某些国名：

　　the Peoples Republic of China 中华人民共和国

　　the United States of America 美国

　　专用名词

　　地理名词

　　组织机构：

　　the United Nations 联合国

　　the State Department 美国国务院

　　条约报纸：

　　the Geneva Agreement 日内互协议

　　the Peoples Daily 人民日报

　　建筑物：

　　the Great Hall of the people 人民大会堂

　　the National Gallery 国家美术馆

　　江河海洋：

　　the Yangtze 长江， the Pacific 太平洋

　　the Thames 泰晤士河， the Indian Ocean 印度洋

　　山脉群岛：

　　the Alps 阿尔卑斯山，the philippines 菲律宾群岛

　　the Choushan Archipelago 舟山群岛

　　海峡海湾：

　　the English Channel 英伦海峡，the Taiwan Straits 台湾海峡， the Persian Gulf 波斯湾

　　the Choushan Archipelago 舟山群岛
