　　Have you looked upstairs?

　　soony--Yes.And downstairs and in the basement.Ive

　　even looked in the car.

　　laurance--Well,the last time I saw it,it was on the

　　table in the living room.

　　soony--Mother said she put it in the den,but it isnt

　　there.At least,if it is,I cant see it.

　　laurance--Did you ask Harry if hes seen it?

　　soony--He said he didnt even know I had one.

　　laurance--It seems thatit will remain the mystery

　　disappearance of the century!

　　soony--Unfortunately,I really need it!

　　1)I havent th remotest idea.=I dont have any idea.

　　remote：极少的;模糊的。

　　2)basement：地层的;地下室。

　　3)den：私房;地下室

　　4)remain=continue to be;remain是系动词，其后的成分是句子的表语。

　　5)mystery：神秘的，难于理解的事情。

　　6)century：世纪。
