为了控制SAT阅读的总体难度的稳定性，使得SAT阅读的出题官员在SAT阅读题型的设计上出现了一定的模式化。
一般而言，在SAT阅读考试中经常会出现的题型有下面几种：
主旨题
词汇题
态度题
举例说明题
推断题
排除题
写作手法题
作用题
对比文章阅读题
从SAT阅读题型设计上来看，词汇题和细节题在每次考试中总和都会稳定的占一半左右，这是两类比较简单的题型。
同时其他比较难的题型，比如中心题，结构题，逻辑题，作者态度题，写作手法题等则经过搭配会构成题目的另外一半，这在OG和历年真题中是一条比较稳定的规律。
