SAT考试由数学，写作和评判性阅读三大块组成。对于大多数打算出国读本科的高中生来说，数学简单到能拿满分，写作还算难度适中，而阅读却令人有些无所适从。
诚然，SAT的阅读在某种程度上难于托福阅读，而接近于GRE阅读。SAT阅读包括句子填空和基于文章的阅读两大块组成，共有三个测试部分。考生必须在70分钟的时间里阅读78篇字数不等的文章并回答67道问题，其难度和强度可想而知。
因此，SAT阅读也就自然而然地成为SAT考试高分与否的决定性环节，从而使得怀有留学之梦的学生们对其不得不爱。
其实，如果细心对SAT的阅读作以剖析，再加上考生自己平时阅读量的积累，并辅之以适度得当的解题技巧，SAT的阅读还是有章可寻，有法可依的。
