例如：He has no mercury in him.
如果按照mercury最基本的意思， 这句话就会翻译成他体内没有水银。实际上，西方古代哲学家以mercury为天地万物的元气， 故mercury至今仍可用来指活力或精神。因此此句译成他没有精神或他毫无活力。
